In the Firefox browser:

Set the "Retention rules" menu to "Use personalised settings for history".
Finally, uncheck the box "Accept third party cookies".
In Internet Explorer :
Menu > Internet Options > "Privacy" tab and on the Advanced button to bring up the Advanced Privacy Settings window.
Then check the box "Ignore automatic cookie handling", then select "Refuse" in the "Third party cookies" column.
2- Avoiding the installation of tracking cookies with extensions?
There are many extensions/modules that can be installed in browsers to block tracking cookies.
Ex. for Chrome and Firefox: Disconnect or Ghostery
3- Avoid social network sharing buttons
Every time you share or like content via social networking buttons on websites, you are tracked.
To avoid this, you can install a software blocker such as PRIVACY BADGER

2- Audience measurement cookies
